CASE STUDY JOSEPH PARR GROUP

Launching eight webshops with structured product data.

ROBUS LED Group is a globally recognised lighting brand delivering high-quality, energy-efficient solutions through electrical wholesalers worldwide. Its growing product range increased the need for consistent, multichannel product data.

The challenge

The Joseph Parr Group was preparing to launch eight separate e-commerce webshops, one for each business silo. However, they had no consolidated product information available to support these upcoming digital channels.

Key challenges included:

  • Each of the eight businesses had separate product datasets, with ranges from ~8,000 to 16,000 SKUs each.

  • No centralised product data source to power the new webshops.

  • Original data came from ERP reports containing mixed internal and supplier references, requiring extensive cleansing and enrichment.

  • The Group wanted to align its product data to the BMF Product Data Template, an industry-standard format driving consistency across the building materials sector.

Without structured data, the launch of multiple web platforms would be cumbersome, error-prone and resource-intensive.

The solution

Joseph Parr partnered with Omiteo and Etimix Product Data Services Bureau to cleanse, enrich, standardise and prepare product data for digital use. The goal was to transform raw ERP extracts into high-quality, structured product information, ready for automated upload into each of the eight webshop platforms.

The solution combined:

  • Expert data cleansing and gap-analysis workflows

  • Data enrichment using industry databases and supplier references

  • Product naming and image gathering

  • Conversion to the BMF industry standard template

  • Creation of a bespoke XML export format exactly matching the BMF requirements

Approach

1. Data assessment and consolidation
Extracts from all eight business units were analysed to understand existing data quality and overlap, including duplication across shared products.

2. Cleansing & gap analysis
Initial cleansing removed inaccuracies and identified missing information. Gap analysis revealed which products lacked descriptions, attributes or imagery.

3. Enrichment with authoritative sources
All product data was restructured to match the BMF Product Data Template, ensuring consistency with wider industry expectations across the builders’ merchant channel.

4.BMF standard mapping
All product photography, brochures, technical files and marketing assets were centralised and linked directly to products, ensuring fast and error-free access for teams and systems.

5. Custom XML export
A bespoke XML format was developed to mirror the BMF template, enabling efficient and flexible imports into each webshop platform as launches progressed.

We saw immediate savings in time, resources and cost.

The results

Consistent high-quality product information
Joseph Parr now has structured, enriched product data ready for use across all eight ecommerce platforms, significantly improving consistency and accuracy.

Faster webshop launches
With product information prepared in advance and aligned to industry standards, each business unit could integrate its data efficiently, reducing manual effort and time-to-market.

Cost-effective resourcing
Instead of expanding internal teams, Joseph Parr used Etimix’s flexible data services on a time-based model, paying only for what was needed during the project period.

Improved customer experience
Enriched descriptions and consistent naming and attributes support better product visibility in search engines and marketplaces, increasing confidence and user experience for end-customers.

Aligned to industry standards
Structuring data according to the BMF template positions Joseph Parr as an early adopter of product data standardisation, simplifying future supplier onboarding and product introduction workflows.
