CASE STUDY Vent-Axia

Scaling digital product data for modern commerce.

Vent-Axia is a British pioneer in ventilation technology, delivering energy-efficient solutions for residential, commercial and industrial markets, with a strong focus on quality, efficiency and customer value.

The challenge

Vent-Axia recognised the need to modernise its product data management to support growing digital requirements across ecommerce, data syndication and partner channels:

  • A wide and complex product portfolio that needed consistent classification

  • Increasing demand for standardised, machine-readable product data

  • Requirement to integrate with ETIM, the international classification standard

  • Need for scalable exports to data pools and partners such as EDATA

  • Support for structured catalogue publishing and digital asset management across all channels

In short, Vent-Axia needed a flexible yet powerful PIM solution with ETIM at its core, capable of driving multiple digital use cases from a single source of truth.

The solution

Vent-Axia selected Etimix PIM, a solution widely used in the HVAC, electrotechnical and building product sectors, because it met all key strategic and technical requirements. The chosen platform would centralise product information and fully integrate with industry standards to serve internal and external processes consistently.

The solution combined:

  • A central Product Information Management (PIM) system

  • Native support for the ETIM classification model

  • Digital Asset Management (DAM) capability

  • Support for export formats such as BMECAT

  • Integrated publishing tools for catalogue and data syndication

Approach

1. Centralising product data
The group centralised all product data, descriptions and digital assets. One cloud-based system for all business units. Structured. Searchable. Maintainable.

2. Mapping to ETIM & access to ETIM Dynamic
Product attributes and categories were mapped to the ETIM standard, ensuring that products were classified according to international, industry-recognised definitions. Vent-Axia also gained access to the ETIM Dynamic database, enabling always-up-to-date compliance with changing standards.

3. Data exports & partner integration
The system was configured to export consistent product data to EDATA, a central industry pool used by wholesalers and distributors, and formats such as BMECAT, facilitating seamless data exchange across the supply chain.

4. Digital Asset Management (DAM)
All product digital assets, images, manuals, brochures, CAD files , were centralised and tagged with metadata. This ensured easy access and accurate linking to products across channels.

We saw immediate savings in time, resources and cost.

The results

Efficient data management
Centralised PIM reduced inconsistency and error risk, streamlined updates, and brought all product information into a structured, scalable model.

Industry-standard compliance
By aligning to ETIM, and using ETIM Dynamic, Vent-Axia ensured its product information met evolving global classification standards, improving accuracy and discoverability.

Improved partner collaboration
Exports to EDATA and in BMECAT format simplified how partners and distributors integrate Vent-Axia product data into their systems, making product selection and specification easier downstream.

Streamlined digital asset usage
With DAM integrated in the PIM, marketers, sales teams and ecommerce platforms could instantly access the right digital assets, accelerating content creation and reducing manual effort.

Competitive advantage
Vent-Axia strengthened its position as a forward-thinking brand dedicated to accurate, standardised, and up-to-date product information — a clear differentiator in the dynamic construction and HVAC market.
